The bottom CMD label says HD-500. I've confirmed there is a 540 MB SCSI Conner CP30548500 hard drive installed (see photos). I assume this was a factory upgrade back in the day. This CMD HD-200 hard drive is in really nice looking condition (see photos), it's tested and working fine.

The hard drive even has a lot of GEOS stuff loaded on it that might be of use to you. I would however recommend that you replace the original hard drive with a SCSI2SD for a few reasons: one, the original hard drive is old and noisy and two, with a SCSI2SD it would be quiet, run cooler and you could upgrade to a max of 4 GB. Not shown but if you need a normal Commodore serial cable, let me know and I'll add one for free in the box.

The CMD hard drive manual in PDF format is available online for free along with the CMD software (HD Utilities, CP/M Utilities, GEOS Utilites and Q-Link System). I can provide you links to everything no problem. These items come from a personal adult owned and smoke free collection. Here's a little information taken from Wikipedia about the CMD Hard Drive: Much like the Commodore 1541 floppy drive, the CMD HD could connect to the Commodore 64's serial bus, and could operate independently of the computer with the help of its on-board hardware. A CMD HD series drive included its own SCSI controller to operate its hard drive mechanism, in addition to hosting a battery powered real-time clock module for the time-stamping of files.

The stock operating speeds of the CMD HD-Series units were not very much faster than the stock speeds of a 1541 floppy drive, but the units were fully JiffyDOS compatible. Faster parallel transfers were possible with the addition of another CMD product, the CMD RAMLink and a special parallel transfer cable.
