Everything you need is included, just connect it and switch on! The SCSI2SD adapter is brand new and it is the now-rare Version 5. It's the only version guaranteed 100% compatible with the S3000 / 3200 XL. It includes a SanDisk 2GB Micro SD card which I have formatted into four IDs of 480MB each which is pretty much the maximum that the AKAI will recognise. Even if you use larger MicroSD sizes, the AKAI will not see the extra capacity. The IBM enclosure is vintage but in excellent condition. I bought it new in 1995 it came with an 80MB hard drive! To use with my S3000XL.

It is solid metal and very robust. Over the years, I kept it carefully in storage and as you can see from the pictures it is absolutely spotless. The SCSI2SD adapter sits in a plastic sleeve for protection.

The case can be opened very easily by removing just one screw (see picture) and the tray slides out from the back. You can remove the MicroSD card and put another one in so you can keep a card for each project. The included cable has the connector for the AKAI XL series at one end and the connector for the drive at the other end. Other models may have different connectors. Message me and I will confirm.

The power cable is a standard kettle lead (brand new). Please note, if this is the only SCSI drive you will be using, don't worry about the technical bits below. You can just plug it in and it will work! If you are already familiar with SCSI devices then you may request these options. I have set the drive up as four SCSI IDs: 2 / 3 / 4 / 5.

When you switch the AKAI on it will automatically search for ID5 and find the drive. If you are using a ZIP drive, I can change the IDs to 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 because the ZIP can only be set to 5 or 6 and 6 is the factory setting of the AKAI so it can't be used! If you are planning to use this drive on its own I will install the terminators directly on the SCSI2SD. If you have other SCSI equipment, I will leave them off.

You can always add them or remove them yourself later as required. I can install the full Volume 1 of the AKAI S3000 library if you want it on one of the partitions.

This setup will also work with Roland, Yamaha and Ensoniq samplers with SCSI connectors. I have tested these SCSI2SD V5 cards on all of the above.
